Championing Community Spirit
We are excited to profile Joanna, a wonderful mum in our community who has recently joined our amazing community champions as a Community Connector.
Joanna, a mother of three boys herself, has put her hand up to support other mums who might be doing it tough during this time.
Through her role as trainer with Kangatraining, Joanna has championed community spirit and committed to supporting vulnerable mums and bubs throughout this time by offering free, weekly post-natal safe 'mums and bubs fitness programs' delivered through live online Zoom classes.
Kangatraining is a fitness class designed for postnatal women to help them safely return to exercise, strengthen their core muscles and pelvic floor while listening to awesome music and having a dance. Babies are worn in carriers so mums can enjoy their fun workout ‘hands-free’ and they are usually covered by sleepy dust at the end of the session!
While classes are normally available for mums in the Canning Vale, Willetton and surrounding areas - Joanna is also hoping to provide weekly virtual opportunities for local mums to work out with their babies in addition to socialising with each-other; reducing social isolation and supporting those who are particularly vulnerable to stay connected and supported.
“During the class Circle Chat, mums and bubs get to connect socially with each other, which is so beneficial especially during these isolating times!” she said.
Our Neighbourhood Engagement Team will be working with Joanna to help community – particularly vulnerable, isolated or new mothers, connect with her free classes and offer for social connection.
If you are interested in connecting with Joanna, know of a new mum who needs some support or could benefit from finding out more about joining her Zoom classes, reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1300 422 664.
