In response to the current COVID-19 situation the City of Canning has implemented a number or strategies to support vulnerable members of our community access information and support.
Strategies include:
- Establishment of a Neighbourhood Response Team with a designated Neighbourhood Officer for each Ward.
- Neighbourhood Officers will provide an information service to connect vulnerable members of the community up with local community support networks and services.
- Establishment of the Community Connectors initiative to provide information, resources and practical support to grass roots community networks to help them to reach out and support vulnerable members of the community. Find out more information on our Community Connectors form.
- Establishment of a Community Stakeholder Engagement team with responsibility for working with the not-for-profit (NFP) sector to identify community needs and work on collaborative initiatives that support vulnerable members of the community.
- Providing local emergency relief providers with use of city of facilities and other supports to enable them to continue providing food relief.
- Continued provision of small grants to community groups to assist them in responding to the social impacts of COVID-19. You can find more information on our available grants page.
